One of the most important tips for cultivating a wine cap mushroom is to select the right substrate. Straw or wood chips work well. Straw grows quickly, but they will deplete the substrate within a year if not watered properly. Inoculated sawdust is also best because it takes longer for the mushroom to break down. Also, you should make sure that the wood chips are moistened every two to three weeks once you’ve inoculated them.
